The Chapel of the Holy Shroud, a ‘600 architectural masterpiece by Guarino Guarini, will finally be re-opened to the public from the 28 September 2018. The chapel, built to house the sacred relic believed to be the burial cloth of Jesus Christ, has been closed since 1997 when it was badly damaged by fire. The delicate and laborious restoration has included the magnificent baroque cupola, which will be illuminated from the 27 September, when the inauguration ceremony takes place.

Among the celebration initiatives, there will be a solemn mass and a concert in the Duomo, as well as an international conference in the Vivaldi Auditorium of the National Library of Turin, focusing on the history of the monument and the restoration project.

From the 2 October, access to the Chapel will be included in the entry ticket to the Musei Reali (Royal Museums of Turin).
