The famous Agrigento (Sicily) Festival of Almond Blossom (1-10 March 2019) that heralds the arrival of spring in the Valley of the Temples celebrates its 74th edition this year. The Festival, instituted to promote peace and unity, features folklore groups from all over the world and programmes a series of international Children's Days with special events.
During this year's edition, the Le Soste di Ulisse cultural association is promoting the three main Sicilian valleys (Val di Mazzara, Val di Noto and Val Demone) as tourist destinations.
The Association highlights the attractions of the lesser known localities of the areas. All the restaurants, wine cellars and hotels of the Val di Mazzara will offer special menus of local specialities during the ten days of the Festival, while a workshop on avoiding food waste, aimed especially at children, will he held at Agrigento on the 8 March, presided over by four of Sicily's most celebrated chefs.
The initiatives are part of a three-year promotional programme piloted by the La Soste di Ulisse over the three year period 2018-2020. The Almond Blossom Festival is a major annual event, held against the incomparable backdrop of the Archaeological Park of the Valley of the Temples.
