The 14th century San Francesco Bridge, Subiaco (Lazio), that arches over the Aniene River at the entrance to the town hit the limelight at the recent Cannes Film Festival when it was nominated top location in the Set of Culture competition organized by the European Film Commission.

The contest was founded in Malaga in 2004 and operates in collaboration with the EU institutions.

The scenic Subiaco bridge competed against other historic European bridges, such as Las Arenas and Cordova in Spain, Orthez in France and Krachow in Poland.

The San Francesco Bridge was apparently built in 1358 by the Abbot-Prince Ademaro to celebrate his victory over the Bishop of Tivoli! Changed days, fortunately!
