Risultati immagini per non smoking on italian beach

This summer, increasing numbers of Italian seaside resorts have banned smoking on the beaches. Cigarette butts come third in the quantity of refuse polluting the seas round the Mediterranean coast, after items of plastic and bottle tops.

Some of the most popular resorts that now guarantee nicotine-free beaches are: Bibione, Venice (the first to introduce the ban), Rimini in Emilia Romagna, Porto Cesareo (Apulia) San Benedetto del Tronto (Marche), Olbia and Sassari in Sardinia, Lerici in Ligury, Anzio, Ladispoli and the Island of Ponza in Lazio, and the islands of Lampedusa and Linosa in Sicily. Many of these resorts also prohibit the use of plastic bottles, plates or utensils at beach establishments. Fines for those who transgress can be steep up to 500 euros.
