The small mountain resort of Alta Badia (Alto Adige) traditionally celebrates Carnival with a thrilling horse-drawn sleigh race, which takes place in the arena at the foot of the World Cup ski run. The sleighs used are the traditional hand-carved wooden sleighs, decorated with colourful scenes representing the owners farm. On the 12 th February 2010, the day starts off with a parade of the sleighs and gaily decorated horses, carrying the local people decked out in their traditional costumes.

Visitors are also welcome to participate in horse-drawn sleigh excursions to the remote corners of the snow-covered valley. A ride costs from 16 per person.
