Leading US travel magazines such as Travel Leisure, Condi˝ Nast Traveler and Recommended have predicted a rosy future for Italys incoming tourism from the USA in 2010-2011. According to polls conducted among their readers, Rome, Florence and Venice were considered to be the top European destinations. The Eolian Islands in Sicily were assigned first place as top European islands.

The results are considered to be the fruit of an intense promotional campaign conducted by the Italian tourism authority, ENIT-Agenzia, which organized seminaries in the States for over 1,400 travel agents and brought some 651 agents on familiarization trips to Italy during 2009.
