The 29 th edition of the Black Truffle Fair at Acqualagna (Marche), scheduled for the 19 February 2012, coincides this year with the Carnival season and organizers have dreamed up a sure crowd-puller to make the day truly special.

While the morning will be dedicated to an international conference on truffle cultivation and normal market activities, in the afternoon visitors will be showered from the windows overlooking the central Piazza Mattei with a hail of black truffles, wrapped up like sweets.

The Acqualagna black truffle is also known as the sweet truffle because of its particular taste - is gathered between December and March in the Umbro-Marche Appenines and is less expensive than the white truffle.
