The town of Grottaglie (near Taranto, Puglia) is best known for its ceramics and its Ceramic Quarter will take centre stage in the up-and-coming La Puglia in un Calice (Puglia in a Glass) Wine and Music event  between the 31st July-1st August 2014.

Puglia has a vast variety of wines from exclusive autochthonous vine stocks and visitors can follow special itineraries through the old quarter of the city to see the ceramic workshops and the cellars. The event is organized into four different tours so that visitors can choose according to their interests and tastes.

The first, Percorsi di Degustazione, (“ Taste Itineraries”) give visitors the opportunity to meet twenty big and small wine producers and try out the produce of their cellars, along with a selection of “street food made in Puglia”, created by the best local chefs.

The second itinerary, Vino ďż˝ Slowine (Wine is Slow Wine) involves five great wines of Puglia with regional gastronomic specialities and is coordinated by the local branch of the Slow Food movement. It is organized on the panoramic terrace of the Casa Vestita and includes a guided visit to the medieval rock church with paintings dating from the 13th century.

The third appointment is aimed at wine connoisseurs and is organized by the Italian Association of Sommeliers. Two laboratories will be held on the 31st July and the 1st August on the Terrazza Nardina of the Keramos Ceramic workshop and in the courtyard of the Ceramiche Pinca workshop.

Last, but not least, is the unique Wine Sound System performance, starring DJ Donpasta, who is also an economist and gastronomic expert. Held on the 31st July in the piazza in front of the Enza Fasano Ceramic works, this will be an event with music and wine combined, evoking a Mediterranean journey with poetry, song and ...of course...the wine of Puglia.
