PERUGIA HIDDEN TREASURES @ 10 Nov 2014

The historic Moretti Caselli stained glass laboratory of Perugia is holding a special exhibition of six newly restored cartoons and photographic plates from the studio's collection until the 18th november 2014.The studio, founded in 1860 by glass artist Francesco Moretti, is housed in the 15th century Palazzo Baglione under the Rocca Paolina, and is a fascinating museum-workshop, full of plaster casts, antiques, props, preliminary studies and tools of the trade used by the four generations of family artists who succeeded him.The studio has carried out many important commissions, including the restoration of the stained glass windows of several important Umbria churches and the creation of a 40 square metre stained glass reproduction of Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper for the Forest Lawn Memorial Park of Los Angeles. The Hidden Treasures exhibition gives a rare insight into the work and skill required to create a finished piece of this delicate and increasingly rare craft. Regular tours are also held throughout the year, upon appointment.
