The city of Milan will see a dream come true on the 14^th October 2015 when Leonardo da Vinci's Horse will be set up in Piazza Città di Lombardia. The gigantic bronze sculpture was cast in the United States by sculptress Nina Akamu, following designs left by the Renaissance genius, who had been commissioned to make a monumental equestrian statue in honour of  15^th century Milan ruler Francesco Sforza.

Leonardo's sculpture was never realised, but the dream was taken up in the 20^th century by American pilot Charles Dent, who raised the money through a Foundation to recreate the horse. It was subsequently gifted to the city of Milan and, after much debate, was set up in the San Siro horse racing stadium in 1999.

The 10-ton, 7.30 m high - Da Vinci Horse is to grace the square in front of the offices of the Lombardy Regional Council for the following six months.
