The annual Spoleto Festival of Two Worlds, known for its avant-guard performances and ground-breaking presentations, has fulfilled expectations again this year with a new operatic hit – The Minotaur by Roman composer Silvia Colasanti. The work, which portrays the half-man, half-bull monster imprisoned in the labyrinth as a sad victim of circumstances, consumed by loneliness and finally betrayed by Theseus and Arianna, who kill him, has had rave reviews.The Festival, now into its 61st edition, runs until the 15 July 2018, featuring a programme of  concerts, exhibitions, debates and ballet with international artistes. The open air closing concert in Piazza Duomo stars Oscar-winning actress Marion Cotillard in the oratory Jeanne d'Arc au Bůcher by Arthur Honegger and Paul Claudel, backed by a hundred-voice choir from the National Academy of Santa Cecilia and the voci bianchi choir.
