"E Dimmi Che Non Vuoi Morire" (Tell Me You Don't Want to Die") is the somewhat startling title of the exhibition focussed on the myth of Niobe, currently running in the Temple of Hercules the Victor at Tivoli, Lazio.

The exhibition is part of the anniversary celebrations of the death of the great Latin poet Ovid, author of "Metamorphoses" where the tragic legend of Niobe, who loses all twelve of her children under the pitiless arrows of Apollo and Diana, is recounted.

Main exhibits are the series of sculptures recounting the legend which were discovered in the remains of a Roman villa near Ciampino airport, Rome, in 2012. The statues of the agonizing offspring and the suffering mother have been under restoration for the past few years and this is the first time they have been presented to the public.

The exhibition, inside the former warehouse of the Segre Paper mill, which operated inside the archaeological site at the beginning of last century, covers the Niobe myth throughout the ages till modern times, with works by modern and contemporary artists such as Pittore di Arpi, Giorgio De Chirico, Alberto Savinio, Ana Mendiera, Giulio Paolini and others.

The exhibition, which runs until the 23rd September 2018, is also a good opportunity to visit the newly opened II century BC monumental Sanctuary of Hercules Victor, one of the biggest and most important cult centres of ancient Lazio.
