Unfortunately temporarily suspended, due to the present outbreak of coronavirus, the exhibition of art works recovered from the earthquake zone of the Marche region, is programmed to remain in Rome until the 5th July 2020. Rinascimento Marchigiano. Opere d'arte restaurate dai luoghi del sisma. The exhibition, which was first held in Ascoli Piceno (Marche) before it was transferred to the present venue in the Complesso Monumentale di San Salvatore in Laura (the monumental church of San Salvatore in Lauro belonging to the Pio Sodalizio dei Piceni (the Association of Marche citizen resident in Rome) before it is due to be transferred in the summer to the Palace of the Dukes of Senigallia on the Adriatic coast. A sample of 36 works dating from the '400 to the '700 are on exhibit, some miraculously recovered from the dramatic earthquake of 2016 and subsequently restored. The works come from churches and religious houses, many of which have been badly damaged or totally destroyed. Many of the paintings will therefore have to go into storage, with, however, the proviso that they will continue to be available to the public.
