The Association of Alberghi Diffusi (ADI) has celebrated its 10 th anniversary. The formula, pioneered in Sardinia in 1998, has revitalised the historic centres of many old Italian towns and villages suffering from a shrinking local population. The Albergo Diffuso offers accommodation in houses that have been adapted to suit the needs of modern tourists, whilst maintaining all their features and characteristics, thus giving visitors a unique chance of a full immersion experience in the Italian way of life.

At the present moment, eight Italian regions can offer this type of hotel and some other countries are now beginning to copy the model.
