ITALIAN CLONE GIVES BIRTH

Italy's answer to Dolly the sheep,  Prometea, the world's first cloned horse, recently gave birth to a healthy foal named Pegaso at the Cremona Laboratory of Reproduction Technology where she was born in 2003. Mother and baby are both doing very well, said researcher Cesare Galli, head of the team that created Prometea from cells taken from her mother. The animals belong to an ancient native Italian breed known as Aveglinese or Haflinger, from the Hafling valley in Alto Adige (South Tirole).
