AGLIANICA "WINE FESTIVAL" @ 27 Aug 2008

 

One of Italys historic noble wines, the Aglianico dei Vulture of the Basilicata region, will be at the centre of the Wine Festival to be held in Melfi between the 5 th of 7 th September. The Festival is also an excuse to explore a little-known region of Italy: the territory of Vulture Alto Brandano in the province of Potenza, which boasts attractions such as the imposing fortress of Holy

Roman Emperor Frederick II Hohenstaufen at Melfi, the Cathedral of Acerenza, the Jewish catacombs at Venosa and the birdwatchers paradise of the Monticchio Lake area. 

Local gastronomic specialities include sausages spiced with herbs and certified DOP Filiano sheep cheese.
