Milano city council has decided that some of the magnificent lighting effects introduced during the festive season should be kept on a permanent basis. The 55 stained glass window panes of the apse of the Duomo, some of which date back to the 15 th century, were lit from the inside during the international Festival of Light (LED), attracting so much admiration that the windows may be illuminated in future, probably during various events in the Church liturgical calendar.

Other Milanese monuments which took on a new appearance thanks to special lighting elaborated for the Festival by world famous designers, such as architects Castagna & Ravelli, Gio Ponti, Paul Cocksedge and Alain Guilhot, included the Central Station, the cupola of the Vittorio Emanuele Gallery, the faďż˝ade of the Church of San Francesco, the Dazio Bridge on the Naviglio canal and the Guzzini Branca Tower.
