The Alpine tourist resort of Merano (Bolzano, Alto Adige) is staging a major event totally focused on women for the 2013 edition of International Womens Day on the 8 March 2013, which will star local women entrepreneurs.
Merano boasts Italys only Museum dedicated to women, situated in what was the Convent of the Poor Clares between 1309-1782 and has since been the seat of a bank. The Museo delle Donne occupies the 2nd and 3rd floor of the Banca Popolare, with a permanent exhibition of objects linked to womens daily life, both in the home and in the workplace, as well as a selection of fashion items seen as mirroring society. The 3rd floor is reserved for temporary exhibitions, conventions and seminars, plus a library.
For the occasion, the Design Hotel Imperial Art of Merano is offering a special package (8-10 March) that includes 2 VIP entrance tickets to Merano Spa with sauna, a hay bath, 1 entrance to the Museo delle Donne, plus various other treats and incentives aimed specially at a female clientele.
