The Campania Region scooped up prizes in three out of the four categories for this year's Gruppo del Gusto (Gourmet Group) of the Rome Foreign Press Association awards.
Gualtiere Marchesi Foundation, named after the celebrated Italian chef, launched its third World Grand Tour in Chicago during the "Week of Italian cuisine Worldwide" on the 12 November 2018. After New York (16 November), the culinary roadshow touches down in Hong Kong and Beijing on the 19 and 22 November respectively, proceeding to Tokyo on the 22.
The Appia Antica Park, traversed by Rome's celebrated "Queen of Roads", has now received the official go-ahead to incorporate an additional 1,200 hectares of territory within its boundaries.
The Park, first founded as a small protected area in 1988, will now stretch from the walls of Rome and the Baths of Caracalla to the town of Marino in the Castelli Romani hills. The Park now incorporates the 16 kms of the ancient consular route, the Caffarella Valley, the Catacombs of San Callisto, the Tormarancia farmland and the 240 hectares of the Park of the Aqueducts to the venerated Sanctuary of Divine Love.
This will all now be a vast green area, open to the public to enjoy on foot or by bicycle.

One of Rome's major exhibition halls, the Scuderie del Quirinale (the converted stables of the Presidential Palace), is dedicating a major exhibition to "Metamorphoses", the epic narrative poem by the Latin poet Ovid as part of the celebrations to mark the Bi-millennium of the poet's death in 17/18 AD.
The unexpected discovery of 80 sqm of walls covered in paintings by Futuristic maestro Giacomo Balla has created a stir among contemporary art critics. The murals decorated the long forgotten 1920s night club "Bal Tic Tac" in the former Villa Huffer, built in 1880 for the wealthy German entrepreneur Wilhelm Huffer and now the property of the Bank of Italy.
Serrapetrona (Macerata, Marche), one of the towns badly hit by the earthquake of 2016, makes a brave comeback with the event "Appassimenti Aperti" that showcases its autochthonous Vernaccia Nera grape. On Sundays 11 and 18 of November 2018 visitors are invited to the local wine cellars to taste the Serrapetrona DOC wine and the rare red spumante Vernaccia di Serrapetrona DOCG, the only red spumante docg to be subjected to three fermentation processes.
The first new olive oil, fresh from the presses, makes its debut at Trevi in Umbria between the 3 - 4 November 2018 with Frantoi Aperti (Olive Oil Mills Open Days) which will continue till the 25th November throughout the Umbria region.
Hallowe'en special for Ghost Hunters: the FantasMAPPA, a "Guide to the Mysteries of Rome". This fold-up map for children of all ages pinpoints the haunted corners of the Eternal City, with the accompanying ghost stories told by writer and journalist Alberto Toso Fei and with illustrations by Manfredi Ciminale.
On the initiative of Pope Francis, the new Sky cinema production of the film-documentary "Michelangelo Infinito" was shown in Rome's Rebibbia prison, the first of four appointments in the "Free in Art" series, aimed at brightening the lives of those serving prison sentences.
