The Vatican Museum launched an experimental evening opening on 24 th July 2009. Museum Director, Antonio Paolucci, said that the decision to open the museum doors to the public outside normal opening hours had been made in order to allow Roman families to enjoy the museum treasures and the Sistine Chapel normally overcrowded with foreign tourists.
