The former Royal Palace of the Bourbon family at Caserta, near Naples (Campania region) has been awarded the 2009 prize for the Most Beautiful Park in Italy.

The 25 th edition of the Acqualagna Summer Black Truffle will take place on the 2 nd August 2009.

The Vatican Museum launched an experimental evening opening on 24 th July 2009. Museum Director, Antonio Paolucci, said that the decision to open the museum doors to the public outside normal opening hours had been made in order to allow Roman families to enjoy the museum treasures and the Sistine Chapel normally overcrowded with foreign tourists.

Michaelangelos last frescoes, depicting the martyrdom of Saints Peter and Paul in the Vatican Paolina Chapel, have now been restored to their former glory.

Capri, the isle renowned for its beauty, presented the first edition of Abitare la Bellezza (Live within Beauty), a festival of contemporary dance organized by the new Fondazione Capri, with a homage to the famous American choreographer Carolyn Carlson where several of her most celebrated works were performed in the magnificent setting of the Certosa of San Giacomo.
